Dredging Material Disposal Neglected Oceanographic Characteristic

Dredging material disposal of Panjang Port channel in Lampung Bay neglected oceanographic characteristic of the local ocean. Water mass characteristic which spin statically will accumulate the mud material and waste.

“Lampung Bay has unique oceanographic characteristic. Residual current in the heading will make any material supply spinning. Bottom part which can wash the material into Sunda Strait,” said Alan Koropitan, oceanography expert from Bogor Agricultural Institute on Monday (07/01/2012) in Jakarta.

This fact based on his research on 2001 in Lampung Bay entitled “Dynamic Study of Ocean Ecosystem in Lampung Bay: Hydrodynamic-Ecosystem Integrated Modelling“, published on Journal of Oceanographic and Fisheries 2004.
Alan asked for an opinion on the dredging material disposal on Panjang Port channel in Lampung.

University of Indonesia Ranked 25th of Greenest Campus in the World

University of Indonesia (UI) appoint as 25th rank of the greenest campus in the world.

“Evaluation based on UI Green Metric Ranking of World Universities,” said Muhammad Anis, Vice Rector on Academic and Student Affairs in Balairung building, Depok, Tuesday (8/1/2013).

According to him, the first rank of greenest campus in the world is University of Connecticut, United States of America.

Presidential Guards Distributing Seedlings

Paspampres (Pasukan Pengaman Presiden, Presidential Guards) distribute 20 thousand trees to the public in a series of commemorating the 67th birthday.

The event that began sunday morning at Command Headquarters II, Central Jakarta, led by Vice Commander Paspampres, Brigadier General Mar Denny Kurniadi, and was attended by the Assistant Danpaspampres, Paspampres Group Commander, Chief of Petojo village Dedi Arif Darsono and local people.

Event Committee Chairman, Colonel Edmil Nurjamil said, it was set up 20 thousand trees in the event that the nursery developed by Budi Asih Association, in Sentul, West Java.

Pekalongan Municipal Government Build Mangrove Information Center

Pekalongan City Government, Central Java, this year will establish mangrove information center for maritime ecotourism infrastructure or “Pekalongan Mangrove Park” in the Kandang Panjang, North Pekalongan district.

Head of Department of Livestock, Agriculture and Marine Pekalongan, Chandra Herath said, that the construction of “Pekalongan Mangrove Park” is an integrated program development mangrove ecosystem can be developed for mangrove conservation, education, and training.

“In addition, the construction of ‘Pekalongan Mangrove Park’ can also be used as an educational and family tourist,” he said on Saturday (5/1/2013).
