Sail Komodo 2013 disserve fisher and wastage of public finance

KIARA (Koalisi Rakyat untuk Keadilan Perikanan/People’s Coalition for Fisheries Justice)  judge, Sail Komodo 2013 has been disserve local fisher, and wastage of state finance.

The local fishermen are prohibited for fishing activities during August 24 to September 14 of 2013. According KIARA calculations, Sail Komodo 2013 execution was also the burden for financial countries around IDR 3.06 trillion. For the Sail Komodo 2013 main event procession, that was attended by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and other state officials, for example, has issued a fund of IDR 60 billion.

Entering dry season, prone practice of catching fish with poison, potassium, and stun fish in Ciliwung River. Water discharge condition of Ciliwung water that shrunk drastically simplify small group of irresponsible people routinely make a habit of taking fish in the river by way of spilling poison fish into streams that lead to the mass death of fish, starting big fish, small fish, to egg  at the bottom of the river that are ready to hatch.

River fishing practices in this way is not sustainable in the long term, and will permanently damage the river ecosystem. Because the fish could not reproduce and regenerate, so threatened use of  river sustainable natural resources. Especially considering that the Ciliwung River is also a source of water for the Ciliwung riverbanks and streams, and also suppliers of raw water sources.

Turtle conservation house collapse

House owned by Bantul Turtle Conservation Forum (Forum Konservasi Penyu Bantul/ FKPB) located at Samas Beach collapsed partly due to abrasion scour, a few days ago. There are little part of house left in behind, while the turtle pond and fence are already broken.

A number of houses owned by residents in Samas Beach coastal had already collapsed last week. Besides hit by high waves, currents scour of the Opak River that empties into Samas Beach fast enough to make the erosion of the cliffs on the side of the building faster. Is not yet know whether it will be moved or left alone. Turtle conservation in Samas Beach is suspended.

One building which stood near FKPB is the fish auction (Tempat Pelelangan Ikan/ TPI) is owned by a group of fishermen Mina Samudera. Now, the TPI is only 6 meters from the beach, so it’s very worrying.
